The warning signs
Urgency, secrecy, pressure and an unusual way of paying (crypto, gift cards, a new account). Scammers want you to act before you think. The technology may be new — the tricks are old.
Habits that work
- Hang up and call back on a number you already know
- Agree on a family code word for emergencies
- Never pay or share codes because of one call, video or message
- Check investment offers in the regulator’s warning list
- Ask someone you trust before you act
Spotting fake images and video
Details are getting better, so don’t rely only on six fingers or strange ears. Ask: who published it first? Does a reliable media outlet report the same? A reverse image search often reveals the original.

Call your bank immediately to stop payments, report it to the police, and in Slovenia report online fraud and phishing to SI-CERT. Talking about it helps others — you are not to blame.
