AI and your job — which skills pay off

AI changes tasks faster than jobs. Here is how to stay on the winning side.

Tasks, not whole jobs

Most jobs are a bundle of tasks. AI takes over some — drafting, summarising, first analysis — while others stay human: judgement, responsibility, relationships, physical work. People who use AI for the first group gain time for the second.

Skills that grow in value

  • Knowing your field well enough to spot AI mistakes
  • Asking good questions and describing tasks clearly
  • Checking facts and taking responsibility for the result
  • Communication, negotiation and leading people
  • Learning new tools quickly

Start small

Pick one repetitive task this week — meeting notes, an email type, a monthly report — and try AI on it. Measure the time saved and the quality. Keep what works.

Follow the rules at work

Use approved tools with your work account, keep personal and confidential data out, and tell colleagues what was made with AI. Under the EU AI Act companies must support AI literacy of staff who use AI.

Key takeaways
  • AI replaces tasks before it replaces jobs.
  • Domain knowledge + checking = your advantage.
  • Start with one repetitive task and measure.
