AI Liability Directive (proposal)
A proposal for special civil liability rules for damage caused by AI. The Commission withdrew it in 2025.

What it means for AI
There is no separate EU AI liability law. Damage caused by AI is covered by the new Product Liability Directive (defective software and AI) and by national tort and contract law (in Slovenia the Obligations Code).
What you must do
- No duties — but agree liability for AI errors in contracts with suppliers and customers.
Examples
A chatbot gives a customer wrong advice
The company answers for its chatbot like for any other statement to customers — general contract and consumer law apply.
